Encore, the world’s only cistern to use condensate from air conditioning units to flush the toilet, has been shortlisted in the UK’s most prestigious clean tech awards.
Encore has been nominated by judges in the Breakthrough of the Year category of the national BusinessGreen Technology Awards 2017.
The awards recognise the brightest and boldest entrepreneurs, engineers, innovators and investors from across the green technology sector.
Encore was shortlisted due to its innovation that virtually eliminates the need to use mains water when flushing the toilet.
It offers large-scale environmental benefits because it can be used in any building that has air conditioning giving it the potential to save trillions of litres of water every year globally.
Technical Director at Encore, David Davis, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for such a major award and hope we can win the overall title on 1 December.
“Encore is a simple yet revolutionary product.
“It is a radical improvement and a like-for-like replacement for an everyday essential.
“No other cistern uses condensate to flush the toilet, no other cistern can store and then discharge a variable amount of it and no other cistern allows builders to claim BREEAM and LEED sustainability points.
“Encore has been designed so it is can be installed new or retrofitted and requires the same time and skillset as conventional cisterns.
“We believe Encore will soon be used ‘as standard’ because its clean tech credentials are far superior to all other cisterns.”
